Choose a laptop when mobility matters
A laptop combines the computer, display, keyboard, trackpad, battery, webcam and speakers in one portable package. It is ideal when the same machine must move between home, school, office or client locations.
Choose a desktop for flexibility
Desktops can offer better cooling, more ports, larger storage options and easier component replacement. They can be better value for fixed workstations, gaming and demanding workloads where battery life has no value.
A hybrid setup is often best
Many professionals use a laptop with an external monitor, keyboard, mouse and dock. That provides mobility while creating a comfortable desktop-style workspace. The tradeoff is that laptop CPUs and GPUs may not sustain the same performance as a larger desktop at similar price points.
